  • Operational or Departmental Manager Apprenticeship Standard Level 5

    An Operational or Departmental Manager is someone who manages teams or projects and has responsibility for planning, delivering and achieving departmental goals and objectives.

    They are accountable to a more Senior Manager or Head of Department and are responsible for the operational and/or policy delivery of the Organisation’s strategy.

    This Course is Aimed at

    The Standard is relevant to individuals who are at the start of their career and who wish to take their first steps into professional management, as well as those who may already have developed practical experience but who wish to develop their theoretical understanding of management skills.

    Minimum 18 months, typically 24-30 months


    Entry Requirements

    1. Employed in a suitable job role
    2. Ideally Level 2 Maths and English on entry or able to achieve prior to taking end-point assessment

    CMI L5 Diploma in Leadership and Management


    Delivery
    1. On and off-the-job training
    2. Teaching, learning and assessment in the workplace
    3. On-going support and progress monitoring
    4. Start at any point during the year


    End Point Assessment

    End-point assessment will be carried out by an Independent Assessment Organisation.

    All candidates must participate in all elements of the end-point assessment and achieve a minimum of 50% for each component:

    1. Knowledge test using scenarios and questions
    2. Structured competency based interview
    3. Assessment of portfolio of evidence
    4. Assessment of a work based project followed by a presentation with Q&A session
    5. Professional discussion around CPD

    Learning Outcomes

    Progression Opportunities

    On completion, apprentices can register as full members with the Chartered Management Institute and/ or the Institute of Leadership & Management, and those with 3 years’ of management experience can apply for Chartered Manager status through the CMI.
